Kory Reeder is an American composer-bassist whose music draws inspiration from the visual arts and political theory, and investigates ideas of objectivity and immediacy while exploring the social implications of musical interaction with pieces ranging from symphonic and chamber works to field recording, text scores, and computer-assisted improvisations.
Homestead is Reeder’s tenth album, and the second one with the London-based string quartet Apartment House – violinists Chihiro Ono and Amalia Young, violist Bridget Carey, and cellist Anton Lukoszevieze, following Codex Vivere (Another Timbre, 2022), which corresponded with Reeder’s Texan landscapes and its endless, timeless plains. Reeder received his PhD from the University of North Texas, where he teaches courses in composition.
