Lee Noyes is a Canadian, Gothenburg-based sound artist who works with feedback electronics, percussion, sampling, and strings. Fellow Canadian, Victoria-based experimental composer, sound artist, painter, and printmaker Lance Austin Olsen focuses on the dialogue between his abstract, large-scale visual art and his parallel work in experimental audio composition.
Noyes and Olsen have collaborated for over ten years, often performing Olsen’s graphic scores. They released on Olsen’s Infrequency Editions the albums Craig Stroke (2014) and Paracticles and Waves (2017), and Noyes played in Olsen’s Battle Maps, Battle Hymns: The Vast Field Of Liberation (Suppedaneum, 2016). Noyes says that in Olsen’s works “there is not the least trace of tentativeness in his gesture, yet at the same time his works reveal an exploratory spirit, open to chance
