Norwegian, Berlin-based experimental guitarist Fredrik Rasten focuses on exploring just intonation and related sound phenomena. In his work, he seeks to evoke active listening that would further explore, intuitively, the complexities of tone and harmony.
Fuse Modulations (2020) was composed by Rasten for a quartet of sustaining instruments or voices and is performed by the Berlin-based new quartet Asterales – Australian quarter-tone bass flutist Rebecca Lane, French synth player Léo Dupleix, Australian double bass player Jon Heilbron, and Rasten on fretless electric guitar and an e-bow.
