Trio Studies is the second album of the German free improvised Spindrift trio of alto and soprano sax player Frank Paul Schubert (who also took the cover photo), double bass player Dieter Manderscheid, and drummer-percussionist Martin Blume (who have worked before with Manderscheid as the rhythm section of sax player Tobias Deliys and pianist Achim Kaufmann, and of reed player Frank Gratkowski and pianist Philip Zoubek), following the self-titled album (Leo, 2020). Like the debut album, this album was recorded live at its home base, the LOFT in Cologne, in October 2022.
