Rolando Renè is the acoustic, free improvising duo of Italian, Genoa-based double bass player with an unorthodox training, Tommaso Rolando (the head of Torto Editions label, who has played with double bass master Barre Phillips and Andy Moor of The Ex) and a generation older, Canadian, Québecesque violist Jean René (of Ensemble SuperMusique). They began to work regularly in 2017, and in 2018, they recorded their debut duo album Do. So (Torto Editions), a series of free improvised dances and other genre-defying music.
