Shishiodoshi (鹿威し) is the eighth album of the Japanese-French quartet Kaze – pianist Satoko Fujii and trumpeter Natsuki Tamura, and French trumpeter Christian Pruvost (who alternates with flugelhorn) and drummer Peter Orins (the artistic director of the Lille-based Muzzix’ musicians’ collective and the Circum-Disc label), and it is its wildest and most eccentric to date. Kaze hosts Japanese vocal artist Koichi Makigami (the leader of the legendary avant-rock band Hikashu and the artistic director of Jazz Art Sengawa), who also plays shakuhachi and trumpet. Fujii learned that Makigami was about to tour Europe in the spring of 2024 and invited him to a concert at Lille, the hometown of Pruvost and Orins. The album was recorded
