American, Seattle-based cellist-composer-writer-teacher Lori Goldston will be forever remembered for her role in Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged in New York (DGC, 1994). She describes herself as “classically trained and rigorously de-trained, possessor of a restless, semi-feral spirit… relentless inquirer”, whose work drifts freely across borders that separate genre, discipline, time, and geography.

Open Space is Goldston’s solo cello album, faithfully reflecting her own description. It was recorded at Studio Soli in Seattle, using her cello, an amp, and a distortion pedal. The cover artwork, “Scrapped Bedding, South Park”, is by Seattle-based industrial and arts culture photographer Arthur S. Aubry, and informs about the album’s atmosphere.
