Ongon is a type of spirit in the shamanistic belief system of Mongolia, offering protection, guidance, and a means of communicating with the spirit world. It is a physical object, most commonly a carved wooden figure, that serves as the dwelling place of an ancestor spirit or protective spirit in Mongolian shamanism. Ongon is also the solo project of Italian double bass player and multi-instrumentalist Antonio Bertoni, known for his ongoing work with fellow Italian flutist Stefano Leonardi, focusing on irreverent, elusive rituals that address the dancing body and the chilled-out soul.
