Paris-based pioneer electroacoustic composer Brunhild Meyer-Ferrari’s conception of Musique concrète was formed during her 40-year-long relationship with her husband, the late pioneer composer of Musique concrète, Luc Ferrari. Since his passing in 2005, she has supervised the preservation of his archives (she founded the Association Presque Rien – Friends of Luc Ferrari, and edited a book of his writings and documents, Musiques dans les spasmes, les Presses du Réel, France) and has released an acclaimed series of recordings. Or as she describes her life: “Like most of my fellow human beings, I was born, I grew up, I attended schools, I passed exams, I failed, I loved, I worked hard sometimes, I enjoyed life… I composed music; I continue”.
