Red Shifts marks the debut recorded collaboration between New York-based, American innovative harpist Zeena Parkins and Argentine multimedia artist Cecilia Lopez, captured at Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn in January 2025.
Parkins is known as a pioneer of contemporary harp practices. She uses expanded techniques, object preparations, and electronic processing, redefining the instrument’s capacities. She plays on Red Shifts, her self-invented electric harp, acoustic harp, and e-bow piano. Lopes works across the media of performance, sound, installation, and the creation of sound devices and systems. She plays the RED—a large-scale, handwoven electronic instrument made from speaker wire, creating a complex but unstable feedback organism, and an array of electronics and synthesizers.
