The Third Place is the debut album of the Copenhagen-based free improvising working trio of young French-Filipina-Swiss pianist Margaux Oswald (who recorded with Danish improvisers like trumpeter Kasper Tranberg and sax player Jesper Zeuthen), Lithuanian double bass player Aurelijus Užameckis (who played in Margaux Oswald Collateral Damage’s In Time, Hollow Oaks Become Chapels, Clean Feed, 2024. The founder of Copenhagen’s CRRNT Collective, who also took the cover photo), and Norwegian Ivar Myrset Asheim (who recorded and plays with Oswald in another working trio, with fellow Norwegian, free-improv pioneer Frode Gjerstad, which recorded Another Step, Circulasione Totale, 2024, and of Andreas Hoem Røysum Ensemble). The album was recorded live at KoncertKirken art center in Copenhagen in February 2023.
