The Oslo-based experimental trio Miman – Norwegian clarinetist Andreas Hoem Røysum (who also plays flute and percussion) and violinist Hans P. Kjorstad (who also plays synth, saw and percussion), with Swedish modular synth and double bass player Egil Kalman (who also plays percussion) – celebrates its 10th anniversary as a working band with the four-disc box X-IV, its fourth album (and the first one since 2021), documenting four distinct sessions from 2024. These sessions explore the rich, unorthodox and often radical musical vision of this free improvising trio.
The first album was recorded at Flerbruket in Hemnes in April 2024. Its seven, sparse, and spacious pieces feature Miman’s ever-inventive and resourceful electroacoustic strategies. As Peter Margasak notes in his liner notes, Miman takes the
