Samuel Reinhard is a Swiss, New York-based composer, guided by minimalist and aleatoric tenets. Reinhard’s work emphasizes repetition and extended duration. His compositions are driven by constant, subtle, inner change, and are built from shifting horizontal threads between which emerge unexpected resonances as they iterate and layer.
For 10 Musicians is Reinhard’s second album for the elsewhere label (following For Piano and Shō (2024). It offers his austere and restrained, “non-directional” music, and employs a four-part ensemble (two pianists, two clarinets, two bass clarinets, two violas, a cello, and a double bass), playing the four-movement title piece. The album was recorded in 2025 at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and was mixed by Reinhard.
