The Dutch, Frisian Kleefstra brothers are poet Jan Kleefstra and guitarist-bassist Romke Kleefstra, both are members of the Dutch Piipstjilling and the Alvaret Ensemble. In recent years, Kleefstra Bros were active with their four-year project IT DEEL. The underlying motive is the disastrous damage to nature, and the way humans treat their close environment, and in the case of the Kleefstra brothers, the Oranjewoud (an old forest in Friesland). Together with guest musicians, they work on new material in the 16th-century church Thomaskerk (after Saint Thomas) in the small village Katlijk, Netherlands, which reflects the theme of environmental decline.
