Rie Nakajima is a Japanese, London-based sculptor and installation artist whose works are most often composed in direct response to unique architectural spaces using kinetic devices and found objects. She has recorded with Evan Parker, Seymour Wright, Angharad Davies, and Akira Sakata.
Nakajima has produced Sculpture installations with British sound artist-scholar-educator David Toop since 2013. Since 1970, Toop has crossed boundaries of sound, listening, music, and materials. His work encompasses free improvised music performance, writing, electronic sound, field recording, exhibition curation, sound art installations, and opera.
The Sculpture events were devised and curated by Nakajima and Toop, and such wandering events define themselves by the environment and within time as a Sculpture. The participants may be musicians, artists, performers, writers, or anyone who
