Dario Calderone is an Italian, Amsterdam-based multidisciplinary artist, composer, and double bass player (he was one of the few pupils of the great Stefano Scodanibbio). His work spans composition, sound installation, recording, and community-based practices, and is deeply informed by Deep Listening as a method for artistic research, social engagement, and ecological awareness. He is a member of the Amsterdam-based ensemble MAZE, which is dedicated to performing music that challenges the idea of fixed form and fixed listening perspectives
The Infinite Garden is Calderone’s project for four musicians – Rwandan-Belgian vocalist-percussionist Aurélie Nyirabikali, British bass clarinettist Gareth Davis (another member of MAZE), Japanese sho (the traditional mouth organ) player Naomi Sato, and Calderone on 5-string double bass, playing inside one of the galleries of
