Critical Values captures the electroacoustic performance of three experienced improvisers – Italian classically-trained violinist Tiziana Bertoncini, her long-time collaborator, German innovative explorer of vintage analogue synthesizer Thomas Lehn, who is also responsible for sound processing (who works with Bertoncini also in the contemporary French-German-Italian ensemble]h[iatus), and Swiss experimental accordionist Jonas Kocher, key member of EN Bruit the Swiss, Biel/Bienne-based association that fosters sound activities based on improvisation, experimentation and interdisciplinarity. The album documented the first recorded encounter of Bertoncini and Lehn with Kocher, and it was recorded live at La Voirie, in Kocher’s hometown, Biel/Bienne, in September 2025.
