Jessica Pavone is an American, Queens-based experimental violist and composer who explores music’s tactile and sensory dimensions as a vibration-based medium. Guided by intuition and instinct, she foregrounds how music feels in performance and perception, integrating her experience as an instrumentalist into compositions that transcend conventional notions of time.
…Is In the Air is Pavone’s sixth solo viola album. It was created during the summer of 2025 when she found herself ruminating on how intangible things can be profoundly real. Stagnation hung over that period; it felt like something was “in the air”, but no word seemed to fully capture her feeling. Much like the sentiment, that part of the title remains blank.
