Katia Pesti is a hyper-pianist and composer (and music therapist) based in Florence, whose highly personal musical praxis encompasses acoustical theory, non-Western approaches, extended techniques, and unique timbres to create a unique and visionary musical expression, often connected to the innovative work of Iannis Xenakis, Henry Cowell, and Giacinto Scelsi. All her sound material is generated live, without electronics, overdubs, or mechanical interventions on the piano. The sound arises from the direct and integral interaction between body, piano, and space.
