Isabelle Duthoit is a French classically trained clarinetist, free improviser, and self-taught vocal artist who has developed a unique and highly personal vocal technique, rooted in the breath. It is a language before language, or a song rooted as much in the breath as in the cry, and always opening up radically new horizons. Dutoit thinks that language and society have severely castrated the archaic voice, and she wants to rediscover and develop that voice.
