Kawashima Makoto is a Japanese alto sax player whose idiosyncratic solo practice places him squarely within the lineage of iconoclastic Japanese saxophonists such as Kaoru Abe (and he often uses Abe’s reed, given to him by Abe’s mother), Tamio Shiraishi, and Masayoshi Urabe. Riuichi Daijoi is an experimental Japanese guitarist, a significant figure in the Tokyo avant-garde scene, and known for his self-produced work via his label, DPS Recordings. Mathias Preuß is a German tenor sax player, flutist, and free improviser.
