Sylvain Pohu is a Canadian, Montréal-based experimental guitarist, improviser, and composer (and a scholar, sound technician, and producer). He investigates the role of improvisation in the compositional process and in real-time sound processing, and explores the expressive possibilities of improvised electroacoustic music. His artistic approach is characterized by the search for a hybridization of musical languages, practices, media, and aesthetic influences.

Pohu’s debut solo album, Guitare électronique, collects three compositions for electric guitar and electronic devices (some of which he made himself) that explore distortion, saturation, chaos, and noise in dialogue with images and ideas of fragile, magical beauty. These compositions reflect his genre-defying practice. The album was recorded at the Centre for Research in New Music (CeReNeM) at the University of Huddersfield in
