The quartet The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters is titled after the Spanish painter Francisco Goya’s 43rd of the 80 aquatints making up the satirical Los caprichos, El sueño de la razón produce monstruos. Like Goya, this free music quartet seeks to revive our moribund consciousness, urge us to awaken the creative impulse, or suffer the consequence.

The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters features Danish alto sax player Mette Rasmussen, Anglo-Iranian turntablist pioneer Mariam Rezaei (who initiated this quartet), Italian piccolo trumpeter Gabriele Mitelli (who adds electronics and vocals), and Austrian drummer Lukas König (who adds amplified cymbal and bass synth).
