Stefan Schultze is a German, Berlin-based experimental pianist and composer whose practice intersects jazz, contemporary music, and prospective tools (and systems). He formulates new approaches to using the piano as both a compositional and performative tool, and often uses the piano as an expanded instrument – acoustic, prepared, self-playing, virtual, and digitally re-composed.

Schultze released four solo albums that map this expanded piano continuum: from a fully improvised work, Tides, to a technologically layered, multi-agent piano environment, Glitch God (Come Hither), from a through-composed human/machine performance, Black MIDI Ballet, to post-production remix culture, RMPX:SHRD01, all were recorded at the LOFT in Cologne between December 2022 and March
