Aviva Endean is an Australian experimental clarinettist, composer, and sound artist dedicated to connecting people with each other and their environment through attentive listening. She is a member of the local Hand to Earth and Australian Art Orchestra. Nick Ashwood is a fellow Australian, a guitarist, and an experimental composer who explores the possibilities of the steel-string acoustic through means of just intonation, preparations, deep listening, and harmonic space. He runs the local Splitrec label (with wind instruments and electronics player Jim Denley).
Both Endean and Ashwood are based in Naarm, the traditional Aboriginal name for the wider Port Phillip Bay area, or today’s Melbourne. They met while playing with the local, experimental Splinter Orchestra.
