Bruno Chevillon is a French classically trained double bass player whose approach to his instrument is fundamentally sculptural and conceptual. He treats the double bass as a source of sound materials, where structure and texture are as important as melody or harmony, proving that bass can also be a source of poetic abstraction. He has played with modern jazz musicians like Michel Portal, Louis Sclavis, Paul Motian, Marc Ducret, Tim Berne, and Daniel Humair, and the prog-rock-meets-fusion quartet Caravaggio.
