Parallels & Diagonals offers a masterful, free-improvised, and sound-oriented live set by an ad hoc super-quartet of restless, fearless sonic explorers – British pioneering free improvisers – percussionists Paul Lytton (b. 1947) and Eddie Prévost (b. 1942, the founder of AMM and head of Matchless label), and a generation younger, American trumpeter Nate Wooley (b. 1974, who kept collaborating with Lytton in the WLSFW quintet and other formats, founder of the Pleasure of the Text label, and now thye artistic director of Pyroclastic Records) and fellow British alto sax player Seymour Wright (b. 1976, a frequent collboartor of Prévost, who recorded before a duo album with Wooley, Trumpet and Saxophone, Fataka, 2013, and of أحمد [Ahmed] ) – captured on its first-ever encounter at London’s Cafe OTO in July 2014.
