Hannes Strobl is an Austrian, Berlin-based sound artist and composer. Strobl is deeply engaged with urban soundscapes and the interplay between sound and architectural spaces. The city and its urban architecture can be heard and manipulated as a ‘sound box’, an instrument or an ensemble of instruments. He sees architecture, infrastructure, materials, and movement as interacting to produce constantly changing sonic environments. Bridges resonate, traffic becomes a rhythmic structure, courtyards transform reflections into sound fields, and hidden vibrations reveal the acoustic character of urban spaces. Stroble also explores the sonic potential of the electric double bass and the electric bass guitar with live electronics. His projects span performances, sound installations, theatre compositions, and VR productions.
