Vanessa Tomlinson is an Australian, Brisbane-based experimental percussionist-composer-pianist-vocalist whose work focuses on exploratory, ecological sound practices. She creates sonic events that suggest new futures for the 21st-century music, on a rockface, in the bush, building an inhabitable acoustic guitar, or towing a piano along flooded river systems. She attempts to open our ears to paying attention to the world around us as we consider space and place, the human and the more-than-human. Her speculative text-based compositions, object-based re-purposing, and deep sonic gatherings stimulate our imagination as we listen in a climate-transforming world.
