Melaine Dalibert / David Sylvian – Vermilion Hours

French experimental pianist-composer Melaine Dalibert composes music through mathematical concepts. He has developed his own algorithmic procedures of composition, adopting a unique concept of fractal series, and his music reflects a Feldman-esque minimalist and introspective atmosphere. He recently performed his homage to Keith Jarrett’s fiftieth anniversary of Köln Concert.

Dalibert’s algorithmic composition Musique pour le lever du jour, dedicated to Belgian pianist Stéphane Ginsburgh, was released as the second album of the American label elsewhere in 2018, with abstract, colorful artwork by David Sylvian (who also did the artwork for two other albums of Dalibert, released by elsewhere). Dalibert wanted this hour-long composition to be an ‘endless piece’ with no beginning or end. Its scattered notes sounded as if stretching time sensibility, evoking the infinite
