Mare Crisium is American prolific polymath Elliott Sharp’s composition for six electric guitars, premiered at Main Drag Music in Brooklyn on June 2025, and performed by Angela Babin (who took part in I Never Meta Guitar Three – Solo Guitars For The XXI Century, Clean Feed, 2015, compiled by Sharp), Sally Gates (who played with Sharp and Tashi Dorji in Ere Guitar, Intakt, 2024), Matteo Liberatore (who played in I Never Metaguitar 5- (Solo Guitars For The 21st Century, Klanggalerie, 2021, compiled by Sharp), Gian Perez, Kevin Ramsay, and Sharp himself. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Sharp in his zOaR Studio in New York in August 2025.
The album’s title refers to the lunar Sea of Crises, a large, dark, basaltic plain on the Moon’s near side that formed from an ancient asteroid volcanic impact. It is immortalized in literature as the site
