Maya Bennardo is an American-Italian, Stockholm-based experimental violinist and composer, who is interested in opening the dialogue and blurring the boundaries between composers and performers, and is devoted to performing music of the present. She was a member of the internationally renowned Mivos Quartet. Bennardo describes her music as “deeply tied to my surroundings and inner life”, and she wishes “to create a space/environment where people can experience a sense of ease and wonder”.
rustlings collects two extended works by Bennardo, reflecting her move to Sweden from Brooklyn, where she developed a new relationship with nature through walking and the organic transitions found in natural environments, as well as her solo compositional and improvisation practice, which explores the acoustic nature and blossoming of three-note
