Albert Cirera is a Catalan, Barcelona and Lisbon-based sax player who is well-versed in modern jazz, free jazz, and free improvisation, seeking to prove that music is not a simple matter of style but of experience. Wade Matthews is a French, Madrid-based experimental composer, scholar, and electronic musician who uses digital synthesis, amplified objects, and field recordings processed in real-time.
How The Rabbit Got Away documents the debut duo album of Cirera, playing soprano and tenor saxes and preparations (mostly objects that are thrust into the saxophone’s bell to muffle the sound), and Matthews, playing digital synthesis (with a set of 28 algorithms that generate controlled amounts of variation in different parameters) and field recordings, at UnderPool Studio in Barcelona in November 2025.
