Some albums instantly become part of your daily routine, integrating into your schedule as a necessary, nourishing, even spiritual routine. A Murmur in the Trees by composer Eve Beglarian and double bass master Robert Black is one of them. One of the best I have heard this year.

Beglarian is an American, New York-based post-minimalist composer, sound designer, vocalist, and electronics player, whom the Los Angeles Times described as a “humane, idealistic rebel and a musical sensualist.”

Black (1956-2023) worked with innovative composers, including Philip Glass and John Cage, and was a co-founder of the influential experimental, contemporary ensemble, Bang on a Can All-Stars.
