Eric Thielemans is a Belgian. Antwerp-based experimental drummer, percussionist, sound artist, and musical thinker and explorer. His work explores resonance, collective temporality, and multilayered improvisation and unfolds where listening, movement, and minimal structures create emergent forms of shared time. He wrote the book On Resonance: Scores, Notes & Conversations (2022), a culminative work that encompasses and surfaces the underlying currents within his life in and with music. He has worked with Billy Hart, Oren Ambarchi, Laurie Anderson, and Charlemagne Palestine, among many others.
Thielemans describes his work as “drums beyond drums”. Open Spaces, Nothing Holy is the latest collection of his solo works, first expressed in his debut solo album A Snare is a Bell (Ultra Eczema, 2007). The ten pieces were recorded at Sint-Pieter en Pauwelkerk in Neerijse, at Werkplaats Walter in Anderlecht,
