Ernesto Rodrigues: two different free-improv quartets

Lop Nur is a now largely dried-up salt lake formerly located within the Lop Depression in the eastern fringe of the Tarim Basin in the southeastern portion of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region, northwestern China. Lop Nur, the album, documents an unlikely, free-improvising and supposedly string quartet featuring prolific Portuguese, Lisbon-based violist Ernesto Rodrigues (the head of Creative Sources label), his son and frequent collaborator, the Berlin-based cellist (and eductor and researcher) Guilherme Rodrigues, German, Berlin-based idiosyncratic guitarist (and in-demande mastering engineer) Olf Rupp, who has collaborated before with both Ernesto Rodrigues and Guilherme Rodrigues, and Siberian, Berlin-based pianist Roman Stolyar, who has background in both jazz pianist and contemporary composition, in a first recording with these experienced improvisers.
