Earth Tongues is a New York-based experimental trio founded in 2011 and features trumpeter Joe Moffett, who has a keen interest in unconventional sounds and forms, collective composition, and the intersection of words and music; tubaist Dan Peck, of ICE – International Contemporary Ensemble, and a collaborator of Peter Evans, Anthony Braxton, Ingrid Laubrok, and Nate Wooley; and Italian-born percussionist Carlo Costa, the founder of the Neither/Nor label, dedicated to experimental and improvised music. Costa has developed a distinctive and wide-ranging sonic palette through a variety of unusual techniques and added objects. Earth Tongues creates immersive sonic environments that weave drones, layered textures, and spacious and quiet minimalism.
