Laura Cetilia is a Mexican-American cellist, composer (who studied composition when she was in her forties and already has established her voice as performer and improviser), and educator. As a daughter of mixed heritage, she feels at home with in-betweenness, and works within acoustic, electronic, classical, traditional, and experimental sound practices. She is known for her work with the Boston-based experimental music ensemble Ordinary Affects, which has performed and recorded with Jürg Frey, Michael Pisaro, Christian Wolff, and Eva-Maria Houben.

ephemeral bloom is Cetilia’s second album for the experimental elsewhere label, following gorgeous nothings from 2025. It features four new pieces – Cetilia’s solo piano four-movement piece “laminae” (2025), performed by Jack Yarbrough, and three pieces for cello and piano –  “becoming of shadows”
